bio - amarevois

Cybertrance opera. Ethereal funk. Gothic Jazz. Amarevois’ music is an ambient landscape imbued with orchestral elements and a menacing, compelling depth.

A powerfully seductive singer with a huge range, her tonal palette oscillates between breathy and intimate, explosively operatic and is at once deeply visceral. An experienced musician, she plays many different instruments (including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums/percussion, trumpet, sax, flute clarinet and viola) and is a captivating live performer.

Amarevois has been writing, performing, producing and recording music for 20 years and her works travel across a variety of styles and textures. With many season’s as both an audio engineer and film composer, Amarevois’ has written and produced works for film, TV, theatre and radio both in Australia and internationally. Azimuth Arts, her production company and recording studio, is based in her home town of Melbourne, Australia.

In 2002, Amarevois’ lyric and vocals featured on Scrambler's seminal breakbeat release ‘Free’, on the EQ Grey label. Originally released on Phil K’s two disc contribution to the much-lauded electronic series Balance 004, the track was later released on vinyl with remixes by Luke Chable and Phil K.

Both as a solo performer on guitar or piano and voice, with associate artists Robert Bell (drums/percussion) Clint Quan (bass) and with various guests, Amarevois has performed at many clubs, festivals and pagan events.

Unravel is a tour de force of fluffy jazz rock and soft, spacious funk. Amarevois explores the new spiritual psyche with a personal kind of emotional poetry. Whilst there are echoes of many artists past, (both male and female) she has a quality and depth all her own. That Amarevois produced, arranged, composed, performed and recorded these pieces is nothing short of remarkable; as are the songs.“
